Ariane Toussaint (b. France) is an artist living and working in The Hague (Netherlands). Her works range from installation and textiles to books to explore personal and social histories of domesticity, womanhood and craft, with a keen interest in printmaking techniques. Her research focuses on spaces of intimacy and care, and the historicity of domestic labour performed by women, with great attention to tactility. Inspired by the textile traditions of the contexts in which she works, she creates site-specific textile installations that explore shifts in light and color, using patchwork techniques as a metaphor for mending and building narratives. Her projects often incorporate writing, craft-based learning and interactive elements.

She received her degree in BA Photography at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in 2020, and has a background in Textile Design from the Central Saint Martins in London. Her work has been shown in various spaces in The Netherlands and abroad, such as Centre National Edition Art Image in Paris, Art Au Centre in Liège and 38CC in Delft. She has received support from the Mondriaan Fonds and participated in Bucharest AiR. She also co-initiates the annual open studios program Bermuda Open in The Hague, is an assistant curator at the artist initiative The Balcony and founder of Rida.

Pillowcase Stories – Embroidery & Textile Drawing Workshop

A creative afternoon of embroidery and drawing on textile, using vintage pillowcases as canvases to tell stories through stitches and colours.

To celebrate the finissage of the exhibition 'I’m a storyteller', the artist Léa Guillout invites participants to a soft and playful workshop to customize their own pillowcase, turning it into a personal object to keep close — like a lucky charm or a comforting talisman. A space to draw and embroider the things you love most, your dreams, or your secrets. Perfect as an introduction to sewing and textile drawing, this workshop is beginner level and child-friendly.

Modèle Sonore – Sound Model Drawing Session

Modèle Sonore is a workshop inspired by life drawing, except that here, we listen to the subject rather than looking at it. It is an invitation to shift the senses in order to observe and draw differently. At the end of the workshop, there will be time for discussion and displaying the works created. In connection with the current exhibition, this sound model session site-specifically develops a sound score in relation to the works on view, transporting the public into the artists’ universe during a live performance.

Make your own fabric book

In relation to her work 'The Poetics of Space', Ariane Toussaint invites children to create their own story and turn it into a fabric book. With this workshop, the artist conveys her love for working with fabrics. Participants will use their imagination to invent a unique story and illustrate this story on fabric. They will then use needle and thread to transform the fabric into a beautiful fabric book, a work of art they can take home.
